An introductory course designed primarily to give nonscience majors an appreciation of basic chemical principles underlying the causes of and possible solutions to current environmental problems. The concept of equilibrium in complex systems; thermodynamic limits and kinetic realities. Case studies from current literature. Recommendations: High-school chemistry.
