Molecular mechanism and structural analysis of compounds useful in human medicine. Introduces the biochemistry of a system relevant to a particular disease indication, then focuses on the detailed interaction of chemo(bio)therapeutic agents with the biological system. Material drawn principally from the primary literature. Topics may include antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal agents; anti-cancer compounds; and molecules affecting immunity, inflammation, metabolic syndrome, and neurodegenerative conditions. Prerequisites: BIO 0013 and CHEM 0052.Recommendations: BIO 13 and CHEM 52.
