Hack Your Tools (DRW-0071)

Evaluate the history, context and usage of commonly used drawing tools and media. Discussion of tools, techniques and materials that are left out of the historical record. Find ways to re-purpose these for new outcomes and possibilities. Question what tools and media are missing from contemporary drawing processes and invent new solutions for filling these gaps. Projects emphasize the making of new and repurposed tools and media as well as testing their usage and the range of possible outcomes from these investigations. Intermediate drawing class. Non-SMFA students will receive a letter grade.
