Sustainable Jewelry Practices (MTL-0148)

Committed to transparent, responsible, and environmentally-sound practices for all facets of the jewelry industry, students gain awareness of environmental and social injustices so they may actively participate in shifting the contemporary conversation around sustainable materials and methodologies within the jewelry and metalsmithing fields. Course partners with Ethical Metalsmiths, a non-profit environmental advocacy group to offer students resources, exhibition opportunities, and support for their practice. Open to all levels. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
