Independent Projects (SMFA-0051)

Facilitates advanced levels of generating and developing thematic independent bodies of artwork. Draw on personal commitment, vision, and curiosity to sustain long term projects. Slide lectures, readings, discussions, group and individual critiques. Class time is divided between group activities, emphasizing development of a strong working community through critique and skill sharing, and working independently in a classroom context. Students should be prepared to spend seven hours a week working individually outside of class meeting times. Prior experience in the project medium required. Open to all media, but students must be in their fourth and fifth year of study, or by permission of instructor. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
