Sociological perspectives on crime and criminal justice. Exploration of how crime is defined, measured, and represented. Classical theories of crime and critical theories of criminalization. Analysis of the state response to crime through policing, prosecution, and incarceration. Special consideration of concepts of punishment and justice. Recommendations: Sophomore standing or one Sociology course
