Advanced 3D Animation employs an experimental approach to address concepts, tools, and problems of current computer animation. As an advanced course, introductory knowledge of concepts such as rigging, texturing, and keyframes is expected in order to develop projects that use Blender 3D to experiment with Python Scripting, mechanical rigs, and other animation procedures useful in creating more elaborate artistic projects involving animation. The coursework involves technical challenges in character animation, motion graphics, scripting, and a final unit centered on the expressive possibilities of using CG for Video Installations. 3D animation experience expected. Intermediate/advanced level. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
