Literature of Migration: Past and Present (ENG-0056)

A survey of migration literature from the 16th century to the present, with emphasis on the English Renaissance. Explores intersection of migration history and literary history in the longue durée. Poems of exiles, Mediterranean romances, voyage dramas, utopian fictions, refugee narratives, graphic novels. Focus on close reading and critical analysis of literary texts. Recommendations: ENG 1, 2 or Fulfillment of College Writing Requirement. Fulfills pre-1860 requirement for English majors.
