Material Lab: Fibers (FIB-0140)
Spring 2024 · FIB 0140 · Tufts University · 4 credits · Undergraduate
Explore essential characteristics of fibrous materials and processes to develop non-traditional techniques. Through reading, discussion, lecture, and hands-on demonstration, experimentation will be encouraged with examples of contemporary sculpture, performance, and installation. Looking at fibers’ networked connections to other modes of making, this course will cultivate a deeper understanding of materials and what they can mean in our practices by exploring the sculptural possibilities of spinning, weaving, and varied forms of alteration and embellishment. Open to all levels. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
