Material Culture - The Meaning of Things: Interpr (HIST-0290)

The interpretation of past societies and cultures through artifactual material, and the problems involved in presenting these interpretations to contemporary audiences. The course draws on modes of analysis developed in social history, archaeology, anthropology, folklore, and material culture studies, with an emphasis on New England between the precontact period and the urban industrial present.
