Figure Painting (PAIM-0002)

Hone fundamentals of basic human proportion, gesture, paint application and color mixing, while also learning to convey what is unique and individual about each person and painting. Class exercises, critiques and demonstrations will help students develop their skills, as well as convey narratives and ideas. Work observationally from models in class, as well as abstracting from photography, and using your own source material. Explore the pluralistic state of contemporary figuration through readings, critical viewings. Figure Painting is geared to students who have completed an introductory painting course and/or a semester of Figure Drawing.
