Repetition Seminar (PRT-0196)

: Address concepts of repetition through philosophy, theory, technology, and the use of print media. Study examples of repetition used and referenced in sound, music, performance, film, video, and visual art, while discussing its role as a mode of production and reproduction. Learn how repetition can be a medium for inscription or negation of meaning. Explore issues of value related to whether something is unique, a copy, or infinite while referencing techniques of artistic and industrial production/reproduction. Readings, presentations, and a creative project involving repetition will be required. Open to 3rd, 4th and 5th year students, Post-Bacc or MA students of any discipline. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
