Psychiatric Medications in Children (PSY-0111)

Seminar addressing the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in children. The number of children diagnosed with serious mental illness such as bipolar disorder is on the rise; treatment of these illnesses includes mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, stimulants, antidepressants and some therapy. Questions considered include: Do these drugs affect the developing brain? Do these drugs permanently affect the brain? Are these drugs even effective in children?
