3D at the End of the World (SCP-0183)

Intermediate level class that supports experimentation and interdisciplinary explorations between the digital and analog realms. Experiments with the creation of liminal pieces which result in narrowing the distance between realms of art making and sites of rich object history. Employs open-source software (Blender) to work with imagined or scanned pieces. Projects arrive through playful and expressive amalgamations of 3D printing, casting, and other experimental procedures. Materials are sourced from the Tufts Special Collections, crowdsourced digital libraries, and other digital archives. Previous experience with 3D Modeling and Foundational Sculpture is recommended. Open to all levels. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
