Physical chemistry of biological surfaces and bio-synthetic interfaces including surface tension, surface free energy, adsorption, diffusion, bio-molecular interactions, chemical/mechanical/electrical aspects of cellular interfaces. Applications to biomedical engineering such as biosensing, immunostaining, drug design, tissue engineering, bioMEMS, and electrophysiology. Recommendations: BME 12, or permission of instructor.
