Study of the economics of the public sector. An examination of the role government plays in market economics, and the ways public spending decisions are made. An evaluation of the size of government and the effectiveness of specific programs. Detailed analysis of the methods used to finance governments and of the role various taxes play in influencing the allocation and distribution of resources within an economy. Prerequisites: Economics 5 and 11.
