Agricultural and Environmental Modeling (CEE-0238)
Fall 2024 · CEE 0238 · Tufts University · 3 credits · Undergraduate
Simulations of crop yield, carbon sequestration, nutrient runoff, and other ecosystem functions rely on systems dynamics models to describe underlying biological and physical processes. These processes include photosynthesis, plant growth, nutrient dynamics, and the movement of water soils. In this project-based course, students will learn the basics of agricultural and ecological modeling, including using the APSIM agricultural modeling platform and will also learn to develop their own simulation models using graphical modeling tools, Microsoft Excel, and the statistical programming language R. Students will then apply these skills in an independent project to answer an original research question.
