Propagation of electromagnetic waves; geometrical optics; polarization; optical properties of matter; Fraunhofer and Fresnel diffraction; interference; Fourier optics; applications of optics in modern research. Lectures and laboratories. Meets together with PHY 0031. Students enrolled in PHY 0115 are assigned additional work. In no case may a student receive credit for both PHY 0031 and PHY 0115.
