Employs social and cognitive psychological theories to examine politics. Focuses on the roles of thought, emotion, behavior, institutional design, and the linkages between them in shaping political outcomes. Topics may include information processing, rationality, emotions, personality, stereotyping, prejudice, intergroup conflict, and altruism. Most coursework emphasizes politics in the United States, though the material speaks to political science broadly. Methodological-focus with emphasis on the use of experiments in political science research.
