Galactic and Extragalactic Astrophysics (AST-0032)

Key radiative processes in astrophysics, the Milky Way galaxy, normal and active galaxies including quasars, formation and evolution of galaxies, and observational cosmology. Will include assignments involving the use of computers. Intended for students with a background in physics and/or astronomy and mathematics, and a strong interest in astronomy. May be used to satisfy the concentration requirements for majors and minors in the department of physics and astronomy. Prerequisites: Physics 11 and 12, or by instructor consent.
