Legal implications and responsibilities associated with civil engineering failures as well as the role and conduct of an expert witness. Lessons learned from case studies of published and unpublished geotechnical failures and how similar failures can be prevented. Determination of the cause of failure of a retaining wall. Determination of the cause of building settlement due to adjacent construction.
