Review of state-of-the-art research in the Digital Humanities and development of collaborative research projects. Emphasis on how new technologies can engage a diverse and multilingual global audience with the past, with a particular focus on the applications of natural language processing and a range of visualization techniques to the human record. Course projects combine code with an analysis of its impact. Programming skills required. Prerequisites: CS 10 or CS 11 or CLS 161, or instructor permission
