Methods for analyzing massive graphs and networks that arise from social networks and biological networks. Scalable methods for classification, clustering, centrality, and inference on real-world example datasets. Specialized methods for social networks including link prediction, spread of influence, and emergent communities. Page rank in networks of web pages. Term project to identify a network science problem and test solutions on a real-world dataset. Recommendations: MATH 70 or 72 or CS 135 or 160.
