Poetic Data (DIG-0142)

Spring 2025 · DIG 0142 · Tufts University · 4 credits · Undergraduate

Studio/seminar course explores data and storytelling. Learn to work with data to create art and design projects: 2D and 3D data visualizations, immersive Augmented Reality applications, mixed-reality experiences. Through software tutorials, creative in-class activities, and critique of student work, we explore the potential of data as a medium for creative expression. Develop the required skills for a solid basis for future data-driven art and design works. Examine, subvert, and reimagine “data” in relation to the cultural and conceptual associations that surround it, and learn to appreciate the poetic possibilities within data. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
