(Fall 2010 & Beyond). This course focuses on curriculum development for elementary and middle school art programs. Emphasis is placed on lesson and unit plan writing, curriculum design, and critical study of existing art curricula. Discussion topics include: curriculum development for diverse student populations, integration of art with other subjects, the application of national and state standards to curriculum, evaluation criteria and procedures, and studies of contemporary art and visual culture in art curricula. Instructional methods, assessment strategies, art media, and technologies will be explored through student projects and presentations.
