Literature Of The Beat Generation (ENG-0040)

Impact of the bombing of Japan and the Holocaust, jazz, HUAC (House Un-American Committee) trials, Abstract Expressionism, cross-cultural racial influences, and the nascent civil rights movement in the writings of authors associated with the Beat Generation, including writers who have been usually marginalized in commentary on Beat writing. Assessment of an identifiable school of writing through the writers¿ own statements about writing, and juxtaposition of different authors. Recommendations: ENG 1, 2 or Fulfillment of College Writing Requirement.
