Sound in Filmmaking (FMS-0017)

Principles and practices involved in both “on set” and post-production sound work. Focus on developing proper technique for using microphones, digital recording decks, Digital Audio Workstations, and computer-based tools for scoring. Additional topics may include the history of sound in the movies, an introduction to audio theory relative to cinema, media management, working with directors and editors, Automated Dialogue Replacement, and special effects. Prerequisite: FMS 1 or instructor permission.
