Baudelaire is one of the most complex and puzzling literary figures of the modern period. Particular emphasis on Les Fleurs du mal which will be approached from various critical points of view (sociological, theological, thematic, psychoanalytic, structuralist Other readings may include Le Spleen de Paris (prose poems), L'Art romantique (art criticism), and Mon Coeur mis a nu (journal). Recommended: French 31 and 32, or consent.
