Twentieth-century American And British Philosophy - 20th C Analytic Philosophy (PHIL-0155)

Survey of the most important movements, figures, and topics in twentieth-century Anglo-American philosophy. Questions include: What place have metaphysical beliefs in a scientific view of the world? To what extent can philosophical problems be resolved by the analysis of language? Emphasis on philosophers in the tradition of Russell and Wittgenstein; contrasts with continental philosophy where appropriate.
