Contemporary publishing and the multiple uses of “printed matter” as fine arts practice through lens of queer, trans, feminist, Black and indigenous practices. Introduction to contemporary publishing as curatorial space, emerging canons, and networks. Practical approaches to creating/maintaining a professional practice as an artist, and how to collaborate with others on projects through the sharing and negotiation of material. Presentations, visiting artists and publishers, group discussion of readings, demonstrations of self-publishing techniques and processes. Individual and collective projects and independent research expected. Open to all levels.
