Introduction Theatre, Dance, & Performance Studies (TPS-0001)

Interdisciplinary foundations of analysis and critique in theatre, dance, and performance studies. How embodied practice shapes social, political, and cultural environments both in formal performance and in everyday life. How performance shapes and constructs social hierarchies, such as race, gender, and sexuality, as well as how artists create alternative social scripts. Historicizes theatre, playwriting, and choreographic practices to identify how performances have evolved over time and influence what we see today.
