Introduction to Quantitative Textual Analysis (CLS-0181)

Introduction to textual data analysis: theory, methods, and technology for applications in the humanities in past and present settings. Corpus design and analysis, basic probability theory, hypothesis testing, stylistics and sociolinguistics, working with diachronic text data, methods for visualization, and extensive use of the Python programming language. Final project applies textual data analysis to the student's field of interest.
