Children's Television Project Research Lab (CSHD-0153)

Representation in current children’s animated programming through participation in the Children’s Television Project (CTV), a research program in the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development. Training in CTV coding instruments prepares students to code, cleaning, and analyzing the data sample of the CTV project. Bibliographic research and discussions about children’s televisual media and its importance in the development of children’s attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. Examines representations of race, ethnicity, gender, age, and other demographic characteristics across popular children’s television shows. Offered for either two or three credits. Students who enroll in the course for three credits will complete a final written project. No prerequisites.
