Adopting a One Health approach, this course introduces students to the wide array of contemporary biological threats – from naturally-occurring disease events, epidemics, and pandemics to new technological advances in the life sciences and biological warfare – and their impact on human-animal-ecosystem health. In taking this course students will also examine the theory and practice of diplomacy as it relates to health, and how the deployment of different public policy frames and concepts can shape national and international public health responses. There are no prerequisites to taking this course, as it is designed to be multidisciplinary in nature. The course also adopts a strong practitioner focus for those who may want to pursue either a career in public health policy and/or diplomacy.
