Application of economic theory, statistics, and mathematical tools to study financial decisionsof households/firms, and the role of financial markets in transforming savings into investments.Topics include the time value of money, the theory of interest rates and portfolio choice, portfolio performance evaluation, valuation of securities, the Capital Asset Pricing Model, financial services markets, and the economics of microfinance. Prerequisites: Ec 13, 16 and 18. In no case may a student receive credit for both Economics 150 and Economics 159.
