Quantum for Engineers (EE-0013)
Fall 2025 · EE 0013 · Tufts University · 3 credits · Undergraduate
Fundamentals of quantum mechanics for the modern electrical engineer to begin engaging with topics from quantum computing to quantum networking. Topics include: particle-wave duality; de Broglie waves; wave packets; uncertainty principle; observables; solutions to the Schrödinger equation (free particle, particle in a box, potential steps/barriers, harmonic oscillator, hydrogen atom); spin; multiple particles; exclusion principle; entanglement; atomic elements; molecular bonding; quantum statistical mechanics (Fermions and Bosons); applications of quantum mechanics to electronic materials (electrical conduction, and theory, semiconductors, p-n junctions). Students may receive credit for EE 13 or PHY 13, but not both. Students in the School of Arts & Sciences are directed to PHY 13.
