Voicing Early American Multi-Ethnic Literature (ENG-0039)

Reading early American multi-ethnic literature with a specific interest in speaking and racial representation. From pre-Columbian oral traditions to 19th-century print culture, topics may include orality, race, dialect, rhetoric, rebellion, minstrelsy, and passing. Considers authors who took to the pen (or the voice) in order to reify or resist white supremacy.
