Modernizing the Mind (ENG-0077)

Survey of some of the major intellectual currents informing our understanding of modernity and modern culture through the works of Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud. Literary investigation of these thinkers' ideas in “Middlemarch,” George Eliot's realist novel examining change in 19th-century England. Recommendations: ENG 1, 2 or fulfillment of college writing requirement.
