Covers the foundations of Unoccupied Aircraft Systems (UAS, aka drones) for data collection; provides skills to manage, plan, and execute remote flight operations. Applications in many fields including ecology, environmental science, urban planning, agriculture, natural and cultural resources management, and emergency response. Legal aspects of flying UAS, including FAA requirements; collecting and processing imagery data for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS); creating data for spatial analysis and remote sensing. Incorporates the use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for field data collection.
