Protection in Humanitarian Assistance (NUTR-ON223)

In this course, students will learn the key international laws, standards, and policies underpinning protection in humanitarian assistance. Through knowledge and application, students will become skilled at understanding, evaluating, and applying protection concepts, analyses, and frameworks to create humanitarian assistance responses in the main humanitarian sectors: Health; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Nutrition; Food Security; Education; Shelter; Camp Coordination and Management; and Early Recovery. (This course will not cover the other two main humanitarian service sectors of Logistics and Emergency telecommunications.) In each of the main sectors of humanitarian assistance students will learn to apply concepts and frameworks to prevent gender-based violence and enhance child protection. Additionally, students will become skilled in understanding and applying the four specialized areas of focus in protection work: Gender-Based Violence, Child Protection, Mine Action, and Housing, Land and Property. We will use AI in this class.
