This skills-focused course provides students with a foundation in project management principles and practices relevant to public health and healthcare. Grounded in the frameworks used by the Project Management Institute and aligned with the PMP certification domains, this course emphasizes practical tools and real-world application. Each session introduces a new public health or healthcare scenario to explore essential project management skills - including scope development, scheduling, risk mitigation, and communication planning - while students simultaneously work in teams to build a complete project plan for a healthcare or public health initiative. Through hands-on exercises, applied tools, and collaborative deliverables, students will leave the course with marketable skills and portfolio-ready artifacts they can use in future roles. The course also serves as an on-ramp to early career PMP certification by introducing key concepts, vocabulary, and tools used in professional project management practice.
