Focus on photography’s influence over our social lives. Contend with the plural nature of images—how they possess multiple meanings—and their complicated relationship with truth. Imagery as a means for observation, description, expression, and distortion. Engagement through writing with critical theory that positions photography as evidence of imperialism’s and colonialism’s impacts on social life, past and present. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
