Solidarity Economy Movements in Boston and Beyond (UEP-0262)

How solidarity economy (SE) movements are emerging and building towards post-capitalist futures in Boston, Massachusetts, and beyond. SE is a set of theories and practices that aspire towards more democratic, just, and sustainable worlds. SE as a framework for an alternative economic system and as cooperative economic practices; exploration of SE throughout Latin America, Canada, and Europe. Exploration of SE practices, including participatory budgeting, fair trade, community land trusts, mutual associations, community banks, alternative currencies, and time banks. Guest speakers include those from community partners in the Boston area that focus on community development and just sustainability.
