Global historical and contemporary approaches to queer cinema, especially representations and expressions of gender and sexuality. Analysis of film and media works that challenge popular representations and critically engage with issues of intersectional identities spanning race, ethnicity, femininity, masculinity, heteronormativity, and LGBTQ+ identities. Examines systems of oppression , the work of feminist and queer activism, and contemporary LGBTQ+ cultures using cinema as a political tool and artistic form of expression.
