Civic Biology II (BIO-0021)

Continuation and application of Civic Biology skills for Civic Biology Fellowship participants. Engagement in a civic biology project that encompasses an inclusive science communication or community-engaged approach to a biology curriculum topic. Mentored project-based experiences (“placements”) in local community, non-profit, or biotechnology organizations that include use of biology skills, inclusive science communication, civic skills, relevance to scientific policy or healthcare, and/or face time with community members. Emphasis on biology topics as they relate to the placements. Discussion topics include community-based participatory research, creating inclusive research and healthcare teams, and building trust across those with different perspectives. Pre-requisites: BIO 20
