Advanced concepts in physical chemistry. Topics include reaction kinetics, with a focus on rates, mechanisms, and transition state theory and an in-depth study of quantum mechanics and its applications to spectroscopy and the determination of atomic and molecular structures. Prerequisites: CHEM 2 or 12; MATH 34; and PHY 2 or 12; or instructor permission. Physics may be taken concurrently.
