Biophysical Chemistry (CHEM-0035)

Spring 2026 · CHEM 0035 · Tufts University · 4 credits · Undergraduate

Fundamental principles of modern physical chemistry, applied to the structure and dynamics of biomolecules. Molecular thermodynamics, kinetics, and statistical mechanics; protein structure and stability, protein folding, molecular binding processes; and experimental and computational techniques used to study biomolecular systems. Note that CHEM 35 can be used to satisfy requirements only for the Biochemistry Major, but not for the ACS-Certified Chemistry, Chemistry, or Chemical Physics Majors. Prerequisites: CHEM 2 or 12, MATH 32, and PHY 1 or 11, or instructor permission.
