Natural elements in Greek mythology (animals, plants, weather, minerals, etc.) and the integration of humans and human activity within the natural environment. Spiritual and religious aspects of nature in ancient and contemporary Western culture. Connections between current environmental concerns and ancient ideas of environmental degradation as well as human responsibility for the environment. The methodology, pursuit, and results of ecocriticism and its relevance to contemporary challenges.
