Education for Public Inquiry and International Citizenship (EPIIC) explores the role of global institutions in contemporary world affairs, beginning with a critical examination of theoretical concepts and debates about global institutions and global governance. Origins of the UN in the aftermath of the Second World War. Overview of the African Union and other regional organizations. Leadership role of executive heads of international organizations, especially the UN Secretary-General. Appraises the substantive work of global institutions on peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, the rule of law, humanitarian affairs, and the environment.
