Spring 2026 · DHP D219 · Tufts University · 3 credits · Undergraduate
This introductory course provides an overview of Public Diplomacy in the current context of a highly digital world, including both theory and practice. It provides an overview of the elements of public diplomacy, its relationship with national strategy, the roles of technology, the major challenges to public diplomacy, and comparisons of the public diplomacy practices of different countries throughout the world. In some classes we will be joined by guest participants who are former Fletcher students now working in public diplomacy for different countries. Course material includes the work of researchers and practitioners in the field, and from many different countries. Student participation and interaction is essential to learning in this class.
